Hi, I’m Kacey Skaggs (she/her), a multiracial therapist, wife, daughter, sister, and someone who believes deeply in the power of healing through connection. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in the state of Colorado.
As a trauma survivor, I don’t just approach healing from a clinical lens - I know what it means to do the work from the inside out. That personal understanding, combined with professional training, shapes the heart of my practice. I’m also the founder of Awakened Self Therapy, a space rooted in authenticity, empowerment, and compassionate care.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn’t a straight line. Before stepping into this work, I spent nearly 20 years in the restaurant industry, with the last decade focused in financial planning and analysis. While that career challenged and shaped me, it didn’t fulfill me and something inside me felt unsettled. I knew there was more I was meant to do - something that aligned more closely with my heart and passion. That knowing led me back to school and into the work I now consider both a calling and a privilege.

Identity
I identify as multiracial - my mother is a first-generation immigrant from the Philippines, and my father is of Scottish, French, and Canadian descent. Growing up multiracial shaped the way I see and experience the world, and it’s one of the reasons I value holding space for others navigating identity, culture, and belonging. I approach therapy through a culturally sensitive lens and believe that honoring where we come from is essential to understanding who we are.
Courage
“As someone who’s walked through pain, I hold deep reverence for the courage it takes to face your own.”

I am also a trauma survivor, which has given me a profound respect for the courage it takes to face pain and the strength it requires to heal. This lived experience allows me to show up with empathy, patience, and reverence for your story - no matter where you are in your process.

Hope
While I am not a mother in the traditional sense, I carry the love and grief of four heaven babies with me each day. Their memory continues to shape my understanding of loss, resilience, and what it means to hold both sorrow and hope at the same time.

“You are not too much. You are just enough - and worthy of being fully seen.”
At the heart of my work is a deep belief in your capacity to grow, transform, and reconnect. With yourself, with others, and with what matters most. Whether you're working through trauma, navigating relationships, exploring your identity, or trying to find your footing in a difficult season of life, I’m here to walk with you - gently, honestly, and with unshakeable hope.
When life feels heavy, isolating, or hard to navigate, therapy can help you reconnect with meaning, energy, and hope. I work with clients to understand the roots of their emotional struggles and to find small, sustainable ways to reclaim their light.

Exploring who you are within the context of your culture, family, and community can be both liberating and complex. I offer a space to unpack identity, honor your lived experience, and process the impact of race, culture, and systemic forces on your mental health and sense of self.

Whether you're navigating conflict, disconnection, or life transitions, I help couples and individuals understand relationship patterns, build trust, and communicate more effectively. Together, we’ll explore how to show up more authentically - with yourself and your partner.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
Have been seeing Kacey for roughly 3 months, I'm a person who doesn't like to talk about feelings, and I don't like to show my hand. From the first session she has made me feel at ease, she is awesome.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
Kacey is truly amazing! I’ve worked with many therapists over the years, but I’ve never experienced as much growth and progress as I have in the short time we’ve worked together. She has a way of making me feel so safe, seen, and truly heard, which has made all the difference in my healing. I’m so grateful for her and am constantly recommending her to all of my friends!
